About TYSMFC
Hello, Esteemed Reader,
and welcome to the sensory, intellectual, and all-around eye-popping experience of
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COMING’S ARTIST STATEMENT.
Please, have a La Croix, or a Cherry Coke—we make them in-house with grenadine. Or perhaps a tripleshot espresso with whip cause this sh*t is gonna come at you fast!! Ready?
BOOM okay here we go.
*HOT SHOWS!* Is it performance art? Who knows?! But it’s funny! …most of the time. Sometimes it’s grounded, precise and lovely, and rooted more in image than dialogue, like a dream that felt emotional but you can’t remember very well. And sometimes it can be dense material that tries to make sense of the crumbling late capitalist America that we were raised in, drawing from broad research (#MileWideInchDeep) and our personal experience. So yeah okay anyway…
**HOT SHOWS!!**
SEX APPEAL! DIRECT ADDRESS! FLASHY TRICKS! CLASSIC GLITZ!
What’s that? Speak up, will you? “Process”? Well, I believe we have something on that, let me look around in here…
TYSMFC employs a rigorous, long-term rehearsal period involving research, physical improvisation, staging, and writing. Established in 2015, their egalitarian practice draws from the background and inspiration of both members. Performable material is developed iteratively, episodically, and in layers—a particular movement might be developed over months, paired with a year-old section of writing, and staged to reference an image that was just discovered in the duo’s research. The result is a patchwork of scenes and images that have a deep relationship with their project: a fast-paced series of episodes that serve as a framework for their performances.
Does that work for you?
